Over the past five years or even more the men, women and teenagers have been increasing buying power or energy drinks to get them through the day. Coffee has long been the standard or common drink to provide that morning jump-start as you head for work.
It is, of course, the caffeine in the coffee and many soft drinks that that actually gave you that boost. Starbucks is our prime example of how popular coffee has become. With our busy and often stressful lives we are looking for that edge to get us through the day and keep us awake if we are driving or working late an a project.
Power Drinks - A Concern?
As we know caffeine has a definite affect on our bodies and it is addictive. The concern now is what long term effect higher intakes of caffeine will have on our health. There seems to be a growing demand many of the popular drinks available at any convenience store have very high levels of caffeine.
All Natural Options
For those who like coffee for its taste and drink it in moderation then coffee as a drink is fine. The same can be true to those who enjoy wine, especially red wine, for some of the health benefits that it does have. The "French Factor"
Fortunately there are some all natural drinks that also provide that energy boost as well as a host of other health benefits. In the next few blog postings we will talk about the value of certain South American herbs and teas which prove energy, are rich in anti-oxidants, help the immune system and also help you to loose weight at the same time.
Several of the herbs and teas that we will mention will be green tea, Yerba Mate, Acai and Cha de Bugre. Only recently in the United States we are embracing the health properties of certain ingredients that people around the world have been using for a long time.
We look forward to having you return very soon to hear about a sample of an all natural product that increases your energy along all that you need for great health.
Remember: Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water each day.

The Wellness Home
This has been a topic that has interested me for many months now. If you ask yourself, “How can I really make a difference in this world?” this is easy to answer.
They say that charity begins at home and where we have the ability to really make a difference is also right here at home. We owe it to the ones we love to create the most loving, supportive, and caring environment possible.
What is a Wellness Home?
First we should say that our “house” is just the physical structure where we live and, yes, it should be as nice and comfortable as possible. Our “home” on the other hand, is the environment that actually exists in our house. This is where the wellness takes place.
The wellness environment can be physical. It can be:
The nutritious food we eat,
The important supplements we take,
The quality snacks we nibble on.
The quality of the air we breathe.
The wellness environment should be loving:
A loving and caring place free from verbal or physical abuse.
A supportive place where a diversity of ideas and opinions can exist.
Education, Excellence and Honesty are promoted.
Where following one’s passion and setting goals are encouraged.
The wellness environment should also be responsible:
Learning personal and financial responsibility.
Learning about a range of physical exercise from sports to tai chi.
This can just be having fun, laughing, and playing games or
Enjoying family vacations.
The wellness environment should be, last but not least, spiritual:
A place where seeking spirituality is encouraged through reading and meditation.
Following one’s religion where different beliefs are accepted.
Personal growth through the arts, music, and continued learning are daily exercises.
If all of these things can be found in our “homes” then the quality of live will improve and this world will be a better place.
The above list is far from complete and this is your “homework" to see how you can add to the list creating an even better environment for you, your family and friends. When you create positive, loving energy within yourself then everything around you will be affected in a positive way.
In the future we will expand the concept of a wellness home to include being a Global Citizen. I encourage you to look at the valuable links on the left to find more information about nutritional supplements and educational books and websites.

Conscious Weight Loss – Do you really want to lose weight?
Weight Loss – Psychological?
Does it Work?
Recommendations
******** ******** ******** ******** ********
For some of us the first part of the year means making a commitment to start a new project, learn a new skill or lose weight. Like many resolutions we start with enthusiasm and then after a period of weeks or months the resolution is forgotten and we are back to our old ways.
Be it weight loss or learning a new language the key, in my estimation, is making a “conscious commitment” to reach a specific goal. If you do this, then you will be successful. What is this “Conscious Commitment” and why is it important?
We often have desires or wishes but these are only thoughts. Now this is fine because every goal starts with a thought but reaching a successful goal also includes a written plan of action. It then requires the motivation to follow through until the goal is met.
The Steps:
Thought: I want to lose weight.
Action 1: Set a realistic goal of losing a specific number of pounds by a certain date.
Action 2: Write this specific goal on paper and put it on your mirror, give a copy to your
spouse or best friend. Now you have made a “conscious commitment”
Action 3: Research the best way to start.
A) talk to your doctor,
B) decide what not to eat – stop eating un-necessary sugar, limit or eliminate
soft drinks, and limit certain carb intake, etc.
C) Daily review your goal (on the mirror)
Action 4: Follow through every day eating only what is on your written plan. The plan
should include all of the food groups, even fats, in moderation. This may
include a nutritious meal replacements for breakfast and/or dinner or three
small portion meals.
Action 5: Fruit or yogurt snack between meals so that you eat something every three
hours or so.
Action 6: Reduce daily stress. It is stress that urges us to eat that doughnut or extra
snack that is less than nutritious.
Action 7: Appropriate Exercise - What is appropriate? Best discussed with your doctor.
Action 8: Celebrate your successes large or small. This “conscious” reminder helps to
motivate you and encourages you to continue your program.
Action Steps 4- 8 must continue for a minimum of 30 consecutive days to mentally establish the habit. Even when you meet your goal you want to continue to maintain your ideal weight forever.
Weight Loss – Psychological?
Absolutely! What ever you want and “consciously” concentrate on daily you can achieve.
Review: Take 100 % Responsibility for Your Life” 1st Success Principle – ( The
Success Principles by Jack Canfield)
Make a “Conscious Commitment to Change” with a written goal and action
plan.
Daily follow the plan and celebrate your successes. Then continue modifying
and improving the goal as needed or desired.
Ok, Ok, How do you know this works?
The answer is my wife and I have lost weight and we are working to maintain what we feel is an ideal or desired weight. Neither of us was seriously overweight but we both had weight to lose.
One day my wife said “enough is enough”. Actually she said it in Spanish. She made a conscious decision to change her eating habits. Our meals included fried foods and this was causing my wife’s acid reflux and gall bladder problems. We gave up the fried foods and watched the quality and quantity of our meals. We both gave up soft drinks (wife – Diet Coke aholic) and switched mainly to water and certain fruit juices and tea. My wife also has some coffee from time to time but really she has milk with some coffee added.
I replaced breakfast with a protein shake with fruit; ate a reasonable lunch and a small dinner in the early evening. We both take natural supplements to help provide all the vitamins and minerals we need and a natural formula to help reduce the daily stress and reduce the desire to snack.
The Results: I have lost 10 lbs and an inch in my waist. My wife has lost 24 lbs, 2 inches in the waist and her arms and hands. She has to be careful not to lose her rings.
Recommendations: Your Action Plan. We highly recommend the following.

Why is your health so important to you?
The Answer: That should be easy to answer but more often than not we neglect our health until the aches and pains force us to take notice. When the pain limits our actions then we start looking for answers. Below are other reasons why good health is important to you.
* Good health is normal. Pain is not the "normal" condition of the body.
* Increasing hospital and drug costs.
* Poor health affects your behavior and your self-esteem.
* Poor health limits our ability to do what we like and can affect your family.
* Poor health also affects your employment, your effectiveness, maybe even lost wages .
Take Action: Fortunately, there are thousand of of us who are concerned about our health and are taking control of our lives and saying enough is enough. This is probably why you are reading this blog. The purpose of this blog is to help you take control of your health and now is the time to do it.
This Week: The Value of Minerals (below) Continue reading and visit our various links. To Your Health!
Minerals and Your Health:
Your body is made-up of many different building blocks such as proteins, vitamins, amino acids, enzymes, minerals, electrolytes and a whole list of others. Unfortunately, the way our food is grown, processed, and cooked many of the important basic elements like vitamins and minerals never make into our bodies from the food that we eat. Of course it helps to eat the right types fo foods but we will have to save this for another week.
Alert!! Mineral Deficiency at the Core of Most Health Challenges
"Are you aware that many, if not most of the people in the Western world are suffering from a mineral and vitamin deficiency? Are you also aware that it is impossible to correct this problem by eating a healthy diet?"
"Modern farming practices have reduced the soil's ability to produce nutritious food. Pesticides and fertilizers may boost a farmer's yield, but these toxic chemicals can also destroy vital microorganisms that break down and release minerials and other nutrients found in fertile soil...." This above alert was reported to the U.S. Senate by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture in 1936.
Other Comments:
Dr. Edith M. Carlisle "discovered that calcium and vitamin D alone are not sufficient for bone growth, density, strength, and flexibility. She noted in various studies, that with advancing age silica disappears from the aorta. ...this deficiency in dietary silica is an important...risk factor for osteoporosis and osteopenia."
Other research shows the importance of minerals in relation to enzymes. Because enzymes are catalysts they cause reactions. Some break down (lysis) and others put things together (synthesis) but these reactions require certain minerals to take place.
Also a number of electrolytes are essential in regulatory buffering to maintain a healthy pH. Also note that "dietary mineral deficiencies can cause cramps, 'Charlie horses', ...muscle spasms, etc."
All of the above comments come from the clinical studies reporting the importance of minerals in the body. You can find these and other studies under the Clinical Overview for the product SierraFlex, a Chicken Soup Supplement for joint mobility and flexibility. It can be found at: www.Wealth.ChickenSoupSupplements.com . Click the box "Shop" and scroll down to find the product SierraFlex and then click on the Clinical Overview Tab.
